How to Join.

The race runs on a small Minecraft mod that tracks your advancements and sends them to the leaderboard. Set it up once — it takes about ten minutes.

  1. Get Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.11

The race uses Java Edition, version 1.21.11. Bedrock and other versions won't work.

  2. Install Fabric

Download the Fabric installer, choose Minecraft 1.21.11 and Loader 0.18.4 or newer, and click Install. This adds a “fabric-loader” profile to the Minecraft Launcher.

  3. Download the two mods

  4. Put them in your mods folder

Move both .jar files into your Minecraft mods folder (create it if it isn't there):

    • Windows: %appdata%\.minecraft\mods
    • Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/mods
    • Linux: ~/.minecraft/mods
  5. Launch and find the GMR Menu

In the Minecraft Launcher pick the fabric-loader 1.21.11 profile and press Play. The title screen now has a GMR Menu button.

  6. Link your account

The mod shows a 6-character code (in the GMR Menu and on screen). Go to Link account, sign in with Discord, and type the code in. You only do this once.

  7. Practise before the race

Until the race starts, Start New Run in the GMR Menu makes a practice run — nothing it does counts. Use it to check everything works.

  8. Race day

Once the race has started, Start New Run creates your official run on a race seed. Your advancements upload by themselves and the top-right of your screen shows your score and your team's. If your connection drops, they're saved and sent when it's back — or type /gmr sync to send them straight away.

  9. Finished a world?

When you're two advancements short of the full set, the mod tells you. Go back to the GMR Menu and Start New Run for a fresh world — every new run adds to your team's total.
